Likewise, the operational optimization of existing plants with the help of intelligent control and customized turnkey projects are part of our portfolio. Examples include the system design of photovoltaic plants or the optimal dimensioning and control of photovoltaic battery storage heat generator systems of fuel cell cogeneration plants or stationary energy storage systems.

In the area of consulting, our experts make an important contribution to the transparency of energy consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases, for example in the preparation and implementation of energy audits and sustainability reports. This transparency is a fundamental basis for making sustainable decisions.

As a renowned engineering service provider in the automotive sector, our engineers develop and design solutions for the integration of bidirectional charging management (BDL). Specifically, this involves smart control strategies for energy management in domestic and industrial environments and for intelligent charging and discharging of connected vehicle batteries. 

As we believe that modern and consumption-optimized internal combustion engines will remain important in the medium and long term - for example in the maritime sector - we are focusing our research activities, among other things, on the development of sustainable fuels - for example on the production of e-methanol.

Thanks to the unique combination of long-term experience in top management consulting and the technical know-how of the FEV Group, we are able to support our customers in all project phases, from initial project planning to commissioning.

We are convinced that green hydrogen will play a crucial role in tomorrow's energy and mobility mix. This is why we offer specific development and testing services for both electrolyzers and fuel cells - starting with the cell and extending to the entire system in the MW range. 

Smart grids are another important component of climate-friendly supply security. Here we are conducting research into the design and control strategies of energy management systems to make our contribution to the smart grids of the future.

Adapting existing expertise

For the previously named applications, FEV Energy takes the role of a system integrator. Component benchmarking as FEV's core competence is the key here: even if new markets and customers result in new requirements for the components used, their technical functionality remains more or less unchanged. In the first step, FEV focuses on business models that can be developed quickly with its existing development and testing expertise. In addition to energy audits, these include testing and development of fuel cell co-generation plants and electrolyzers, development of mobile charging and refueling infrastructures, and simulation and project planning of power-to-X applications. These technologies include the conversion and storage of renewable electricity into green gases such as hydrogen or methane (power-to-gas), into liquid energy carriers such as fuels for sustainable mobility and buildings (power-to-liquids), or for the synthesis of chemical feedstocks for industry (power-to-chemicals). The target group includes industrial customers in the business-to-business environment.
