German President Steinmeier Visits FEV’s Durability Test Center in Sandersdorf-Brehna

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Minister President of the state Reiner Haseloff visited the FEV durability test center on February 15 in Sandersdorf-Brehna, Saxony-Anhalt.

Sandersdorf-Brehna – On February 15, 2018, German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, visited FEV’s durability test center, Dauerlaufprüfzentrum (DLP) in Brehna, Germany.  Accompanied by the Minister President of the state, Reiner Haseloff, Steinmeier’s visit was part of a two-day inaugural tour of the Saxony-Anhalt region. The presidential visit is an indication of FEV’s considerable impact in the area of research and development for the region.

During his 90-minute visit, Steinmeier learned about the history of the durability test center, which opened in 2007. Originally employing nearly 80 personnel, the test center has grown significantly, and now employs more than 200.

With 41 test rigs in operation, Steinmeier showed interest in FEV’s effort to make powertrains more efficient and environmentally friendly. Following the tour, he had in-depth conversations with numerous employees.

"Our durability test center in Brehna is one of the most modern of its kind worldwide,” said Professor Stefan Pischinger, president and CEO of the FEV Group.  “The political recognition and the high order volume show that ventures in Saxony-Anhalt are sound investments.”

Managing Directors of the DLP, Hans-Dieter Sonntag and Steffen Kunz, also saw the political visit in a positive light. "Mr. Steinmeier and Mr. Haseloff are always welcome here," states Sonntag. "We hope they will visit again in a few months, when we inaugurate the first test rigs designed exclusively for electric drives, an addition that’s part of our latest expansion phase," adds Kunz.
