FEV, Inc. to show high-power outboard marine motor at SAE World Congress

FEV supports development of Seven Marine's 557hp outboard, the world's most powerful outboard marine motor

Auburn Hills, Mich., April 17, 2012 – AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 17, 2012 -- FEV, Inc., leading developers of advanced powertrain and vehicle technologies announced that it will show an innovative outboard  motor from Seven Marine at the SAE World Congress,April 24 – 26th at Cobo Center in Detroit, MI. While typically associated with the transportation industry, FEV has long been involved in non-automotive powertrain development and Seven Marine's 557hp outboard motor represents its latest endeavor. FEV is supporting the development of the 557 outboard motor as Seven Marine continues with their production launch plans.  Gary Rogers, president and CEO of FEV, Inc., made the announcement.

"Although we serve many markets and have expanded our business in vehicle and energy systems engineering, we retain a very strong position in powertrain development," said Rogers. "Regardless of the application or the size of the powerplant, our team is positioned to meet the challenges that each of these projects present. With increasing statutory scrutiny of the marine engine industry, applying our knowledge to that business sector is a logical extension of our well-recognized capabilities."

Seven Marine touts their outboard motor line as "The Most Powerful Outboards on the Planet." Seven Marine's 557hp outboard motor is based on the Cadillac CTS-V's lightweight, all-aluminum, fuel-injected, supercharged V8. The 557 horsepower outboard will deliver nearly 60% more power than any other outboard on the market. This allows boats to be rigged with fewer motors, decreasing weight and drag while increasing high-speed fuel economy and top speeds. The engine features closed-loop cooling, an ECU-controlled octane scaler, and dual 3.5" exhaust.
