Pune, India, January 2026 – FEV, a global innovation driver across multiple industries, made a strong impact at SIAT 2026, one of India’s leading automotive engineering exhibitions, held from January 28–30, 2026, at PIECC, Pune. At the event, FEV showcased its latest engineering innovations spanning advanced powertrains, electrification, software-defined vehicles (SDV), and digital engineering. At the symposium, Dr. Norbert Alt, COO of FEV Group, delivered a keynote speech.

FEV’s presence at SIAT 2026 underscored the company’s commitment to accelerating the transformation of mobility through cutting-edge engineering, system integration, and validation expertise. The company showcased a comprehensive portfolio designed to help OEMs address tightening regulations, sustainability targets, and the growing convergence of hardware and software in next-generation vehicles.

Keynote from Dr. Norbert Alt

Additionally, Dr. Norbert Alt, COO of FEV Group delivered a keynote speech titled “Passenger Car Propulsion Systems in a Sustainable World – Globally and in India”, highlighting current developments and future challenges in the mobility and engineering sectors. Drawing on his industry experience, he shared perspectives on technological innovation, collaboration, and the evolving role of engineering in shaping sustainable solutions. His contribution provided attendees with insights into emerging trends and underscored the importance of cross-industry dialogue.

SDV and Digital Engineering in Action

A major highlight of FEV’s exhibit was the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) demonstration, featuring an integrated suite of advanced technologies. Highlights included ADAS functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition, Android- and Linux-based eCockpit solutions, Over-the-Air (OTA) update capabilities, Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics (SOVD), and gateway solutions enabling signal-to-service translation over CAN and Ethernet.

FEV also showcased FEVSAR, the company’s implementation of Classic AUTOSAR, a global standard for vehicle software architecture that allows different software components to work together seamlessly on a vehicle’s control units, while keeping systems flexible, modular, and efficient.

In addition, FEV showcased its digital engineering and validation capabilities, highlighting:
• IntelliGen, FEV’s system engineering approach for coordinating complex vehicle functions and architectures
• Battery digital twins with prognostics and asset health analysis
• Driving performance analytics for vehicle dynamics and energy efficiency
• ALiVA (Automated Lidar, Image & Video Annotator), FEV’s AI-assisted virtual validation tool for ADAS and autonomous systems
• Cysec, FEV’s cybersecurity penetration testing lab for identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities in connected and software-defined vehicle systems

These capabilities demonstrate FEV’s end-to-end expertise in software-driven vehicle development.

Sustainable propulsion solutions

Among the highlights at the FEV booth was a range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) system aimed at significantly increasing the driving range of battery electric vehicles. Together with its project partner SYTECH, FEV has developed an innovative four-cylinder opposing-piston engine, enabling highly efficient hybridized BEV concepts as a compelling alternative to purely electric powertrains.
FEV also exhibited a modular electric drive unit concept that significantly reduces dependence on critical raw materials such as rare-earth magnets. The solution targets the complete elimination of rare-earth elements in electric machines—addressing both cost pressures and supply-chain constraints.

“At SIAT 2026, we moved beyond concepts and showed how advanced engineering can be applied to real-world mobility challenges,” said Dr. Norbert Alt. “From extending EV range to enabling faster, remote diagnostics, our solutions are designed to help Indian OEMs reduce development risk, meet regulations, and bring software-defined vehicles to market faster.”

“The technologies we showcased at SIAT 2026 demonstrate how FEV is translating global innovation into scalable solutions for the Indian market,” said Alt. “By combining powertrain expertise with software, electrification, and digital validation, we support our customers across the full vehicle lifecycle—from early concept decisions to series production.”

With decades of global experience across automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway, and defence sectors, FEV continues to support customers worldwide with end-to-end, future-ready mobility solutions, from concept development to production and validation.
