Vibration and shock testing

A 350 kN shaker is available for mechanical testing, enabling vibration and shock testing under highly dynamic load conditions. The system is equipped with a climate chamber allowing combined environmental and vibration testing in a controlled temperature range from –40 to +100 °C.
Beyond shaker-based tests, our climate chambers enable temperature cycling, thermal ageing and humidity testing, while salt spray chambers asses corrosion resistance and durability under aggressive environmental conditions.

The infrastructure is further enhanced by a multi-channel battery tester with capacities up to 1200 V, 1200 A and 500 kW, enabling dynamic electrical load profiles for comprehensive battery evaluation.

Environmental tests

Environmental testing at FEV eDLP provides comprehensive validation of components and systems under realistic and extreme environmental conditions. Our one-stop-shop reduces long transport between test locations, delivering results faster and achieving up to 30 %-time savings. Our portfolio includes thermal shock immersion tests, as well as corrosion and chemical resistance testing for durability in aggressive media.

We also perform IP tests to verify protection against water and dust ingress, supported by vacuum and dust chambers for controlled simulation. Splash water and water spray tests are performed in a controlled and reproducible manner, while gravel bombardment completes reliable performance and long-term durability.

Safety and abuse tests

Our safety and abuse testing program covers a broad range of mechanical, thermal, electrical, and operational stress scenarios. These include impact and crush tests, thermal propagation, fire resistance and runaway, electrical misuse, and critical operating errors under controlled and worst-case conditions.

Using advanced test infrastructure and validated methodologies, we generate precise, reproducible data on system behavior, failure modes, and safety margins.

This framework supports homologation, regulatorycompliance, risk mitigation, and the development of safe, reliable, high-performance products throughout their lifecycles.

Durability testing – Modules & packs

To evaluate performance and functional reliability, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of electrical and thermal tests that simulate realistic operating and long-term use conditions. Our endurance and continuous operation tests provide detailed insights into ageing behaviour, capacity degradation, and efficiency changes over time. We assess cold and hot performance, charging and discharging efficiency, dynamic load response, as well as the effectiveness and durability of cooling structures and cell housings.

These tests provide valuable information on functional stability, performance limits, and system behaviour throughout the entire product lifecycle.
