New appointment enhances FEV transmission capability
Dr. Ingo Steinberg is named head of the Business Unit Transmission Systems
Aachen, 16th of January 2014 – FEV GmbH, a global leader in engineering services for propulsion and advanced vehicle systems, has significantly enhanced its transmission capability with the appointment of Dr. Ingo Steinberg as the new head of the Business Unit - Transmission Systems. Dr. Steinberg brings extensive experience in the series production of automatic and manual transmissions to FEV. Prof. Stefan Pischinger, CEO and shareholder of Aachen-based FEV GmbH, made the announcement.
“This is an important step in maintaining our position as a strong development partner for our customers,” stated Prof. Pischinger. “The addition of Dr. Steinberg will allow us to continue our support from concept to series production, especially in the field of transmission.”
Before joining FEV, Dr. Steinberg contributed to the development of several dual clutch transmissions during his tenure at Volkswagen, GETRAG and Ford.
Transmission technology is growing in importance in vehicle development as systems become increasingly integrated and interdependent. Future requirements concerning CO2 legislation combined with customer requirements for comfort can only be fulfilled with advanced transmission concepts. This demands strong competencies in the development of complex control software for optimizing the synergy of all components of the powertrain.
“The interdisciplinary teams at FEV are the perfect incubators for the advanced technology development needed to exceed customer expectations,” said Dr. Steinberg. “I am excited to work in such an environment, and look forward to collaborating with FEV’s worldwide customers. Together, with my team, we will further enhance FEVs already impressive competencies in this sector.”
