I was hired by FEV after graduating from college and it has been a great opportunity for me. I have a passion for engines so FEV is the right place for me. As a former Formula SAE team member, my work at FEV is kind of like a complex extension of my FSAE experience. As a college graduate I have the opportunity to use my knowledge and previous engine and vehicle experience, such as interpreting test data and drawing conclusions for testing programs I have defined, but also I get the added benefit of further developing my knowledge by working closely with more experienced colleagues. I am also learning more in areas where, previously, I didn’t have much experience.
FEV offered a training period where I worked in tandem with a project engineer on a project in the test cells. This gave me a chance to learn about test cell equipment, instrumentation, and the methods applied, which are a part of the processes and quality standards that FEV implements. But the biggest benefit is that the job learning and training I receive is applicable for future powertrain and vehicle positions, which is my main interest and focus.
