Piston Dynamics Module

Analyze piston secondary motion (piston tilting), study the impact of crankshaft and/or piston pin offset on friction and resulting NVH through piston slap. The piston-liner force is simulated using specialized contact formulations. The resulting pressure distribution can be recorded in ParaView file format and visualized / animated with ParaView (http://www.paraview.org/).

Building blocks provided through the Piston Dynamics Module: piston (with macro-geometry parameters such as ovality, crowning, and drop), liner - both elements may superimpose ideal geometry with thermal deformation maps, specialized piston-liner contacts (dry, 2D or 3D hydrodynamic).
