Hardware-in-the-Loop

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) is a methodology tool which is gaining increasing importance for testing a controller's functionality and communication. FEV provides this methodology as a service, both at our own testing facilities as well as on site for our customers. HiL can dramatically reduce development time by testing the controller inside a virtual environment in lieu of components, engines or vehicles. Models of the engine, vehicle and driver allow reproducible testing beyond the physical limits of the original hardware components. Automated testing and documentation result in complete, concise and traceable coverage of the controller.

FEV offers assistance in test-plan and test-case creation, development of real time simulation models using various software tools, implementation and execution of tests on different hardware platforms. Time and money can be saved using FEV's HIL approach.
