Mechanical development is a vital ingredient for creating a successful powertrain!

FEV enjoys a close working relationship with automotive, heavy-duty and industrial engine manufacturers (OEMs as well as with their supply base). In our three global mechanical development centers, we offer a complete range of mechanical engineering services for every phase of the engine development process. The following is just a small sample of the support that we can provide for mechanical development:

• Assisting engine developers to solve specific mechanical problems, using such methods as benchmarking, single CAE analyses or troubleshooting support.
• Providing/adapting new technologies to achieve the customer's demands, such as through the use of FEV's variable valvetrain concepts and FEV's low friction roller bearing cranktrain.
• Providing complete CAx support for concept work and virtual prototype developments.
• Offering complete mechanical testing programs for validation and release for SOP.
• Upgrading existing engines through a redesign and mechanical development concerning changes to the emission standards.

We have more than once demonstrated our ability to also perform complete engine development programs from concept layout to SOP in less than 36 months.
