Analysis & Prediction
There are many companies and universities that offer excellent analytical and predictive capabilities. However, the measure of success in a product-driven business is the level of integration and synergy that can be achieved in packaging these capabilities with one, singular goal: get the product to market at the lowest possible cost with the highest possible quality and performance.
At FEV, our analysts and engineers are constantly looking for new ways to improve the product development process to shorten the time cycles, reduce costs and meet performance targets. We have developed a new virtual development process that leverages all of our analytical capabilities toward meeting these goals. By applying such techniques, FEV is able to eliminate a large amount of the hardware prototyping that formerly typified the product development process. By efficiently integrating a number of simulations, a new product can be brought to market much more quickly.
FEV’s integrated development process links real and virtual prototypes with analysis, development testing, and release procedures, leading to a truly multidisciplinary and simultaneous development process. Modern mechanical development strategies are characterized by intensive model-based optimization of a virtual prototype, followed by validation testing on a very advanced physical prototype that concentrates on advanced product-life-related test procedures. Doing more analysis and prediction in the virtual environment shortens the process and keeps product costs down.
At FEV, we offer an unparalleled analysis and prediction resource that can be applied to engines, transmissions and vehicles. Through the application of a unique blend of analytical and testing efforts, FEV can quickly provide useful results to its customers that accelerate the development process. Areas of emphasis include simulation and testing capabilities in:
FEV applies a broad range of CAE and NVH analyses within development programs, such as:
- Thermo-mechanical finite element (FE) analysis
- Structural dynamics multi-body simulation
- TEHD plane bearing analysis
- 1D/3D Coolant flow CFD analysis
- 3D In-cylinder flow CFD analysis
- 1D/3D gas exchange simulation
- Force response NVH FE analysis
- FEV internal Software Development (Virtual Engine)
- FEV VINS/VENS (Vehicle Interior / Exterior Noise Simulation)
We also maintain a large database of benchmarking data for hundreds of current production and developmental engines and vehicles. During the course of development for a new product, analytical and prototype test results can be compared to the best-in-class products from the benchmark database at the component and subsystem levels – even for dynamic data such as frictional behavior, wear, temperatures, mass flows, pressures, and component dynamics (vibration, velocities, etc.).
At FEV we have the know-how and the experience to provide analyses and predictions for products under development that our customers directly use in their own product planning. This ability to manage and control a multi-disciplinary development process and direct the analytical results ensures that useful information is provided to the customer, which sets FEV apart from its competitors. Call FEV today – we’re fast and provide value at a reasonable cost. But most importantly, we’ll help ensure that you achieve your goals and meet your targets.
